Neymar May Be Banned From Playing In Champions League Finals For This Reason


Neymar is at risk of being banned from the Champions League final for swapping shirts with Marcel Halstenberg on Tuesday, 18th of August, 2020, after Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) 3-0 win over RB Leipzig.


Uefa’s 31-page ‘Return to play protocol’, issued earlier this month, states;“Players are recommended to refrain from swapping their shirts.”

It adds that non-compliance with the obligations “may lead to disciplinary measures in accordance with the Uefa Disciplinary Regulations.”

The 28-year-old player may face a one-match ban, and a mandatory 12-day period of self-isolation for trading his shirt with another player.

Neymar was at his influential best as PSG outclassed their German rivals at Benfica’s Stadium of Light to reach the final for the first time.

According to reports before the competition’s return from the Covid-19 shutdown, swapping shirts during the Lisbon mini-tournament would result in a 12-day period of self-isolation as mentioned earlier.

PSG are set to clash with Bayern Munich or Lyon in Lisbon on Sunday, 23rd of August 2020, in Champions League final.
